We are a small business located off of Point Marion Rd. in Morgantown. We are looking for easier ways to start recycling. Could you give us names of companies, if there are such, that have the curbside pick-up option?
Any information you can give us would be helpful.
Thank you!
Ashlee Howell
Unfortunately, if your waste disposal company does not already offer curbside recycling, you cannot get curbside recycling. You can, however, drop your recyclables off 24/7 at any of our satellite sites (here’s a map) or at our main recycling center off of River Rd. If you are going to drop off a lot of recyclables (enough to fill a significant portion of a container) we ask that you drop them off at our main recycling center.
What is the proper method to dispose of (mostly) empty 5 gallon asphalt sealant pails?
Are these ever accepted with other special collections (paint, paint cans, etc.)
Thanks!
For somewhat unusual items like that, it’s usually best to call the West Virginia DEP. Their number is 304-368-3950. Ask for Joyce Moore. If she can’t help you, let us know.
Recently heard about this website and program. People would get rewarded for recycling…which might help MORE people to participate. Not sure if this would be something that could work here in Morgantown but thought anything to get more people interested in recycling would be helpful.
To find out more about how RecycleBank works in communities, go to http://corporate.recyclebank.com/ or email muni@recyclebank.com.
Thank you for the suggestion. We’ve known about RecycleBank for several years now. In fact, one of our largest brokers was a founder of RecycleBank. Unfortunately, Morgantown does not have any of the businesses that participate in RecycleBank. We are in frequent contact with this broker, so if any changes occur, we will do all we can to participate in this program.
Do you take Hondura(asphault) roofing? If not, do you know anyone who does?
Thank You,
Karen
Is there still a vacancy on the Board?
As of now, there is. That could change at any time.
I have a dishwasher to dispose of. How would I go about doing that? Since it’s not summer and the Monongalia County White Goods Program isn’t accepting right now.
What condition is the dishwasher in? If the dishwasher is in working condition, you can call:
Native American Resource Center at (304) 662-6220,
Habitat for Humanity ReStore at (304) 291-2991, or
Salvation Army at (304) 296-3525.
If the dishwasher is not working, try:
Dick’s Recycling at (304) 599-3481,
3 Rivers Iron and Metal at (304) 366-8099,
N. Mountain State Metals at (304) 292-1200 or (304) 367-1207,
R & B Recycling at (304) 879-4111, or
Jack’s Recycling at (800) 222-8932.
If these places will not accept the dishwasher, please let us know and we’ll try to figure something out.
Hi, my name is Nicole Leach. I am a WVU student and I am writing a research paper on recycling and I was hoping I could interview the Recycling Coordinator to get some information. Here are some questions I have:
1. Is zero-waste a goal for Monongalia County?
2. If so, who is an influential person on making this happen?
3. Would zero-waste be more beneficial to everyday people or companies?
4. What are the best ways everyday people can participate in having a zero-wastecommunity?
5. Does West Virginia have any laws regarding recycling?
6. How long has recycling been going on in Mon. County?
7. Is curb-side pick up an achievable goal in Mon. County?
8. If so, what are some of the rules and regulations that go along with curb-sidepick up?
9. A reason people choose not to recycle is because they think it will make adifference, what would you say to this person on why they should recycle?
10. Another rebuttal to recycling is that it is costly, is this true or false?
I’ll let our coordinator know. She’ll probably just email you answers to these questions so we don’t fill our comment space up.
