Where can I take my trash and what happened to the dump?

Recently, we’ve been getting a LOT of calls about “the dump”. And understandably so. The issue was already a little confusing and has become more complicated recently. Here’s the deal. In Monongalia County, we do not have an actual landfill. We have a transfer station. The trash that is collected at the transfer station doesn’t stay there. It is taken to an actual landfill, usually the one in Harrison County.
Recently, the transfer station in Monongalia County moved from behind the Glenmark Centre (near iHop) to the Industrial Park in Westover. See this link on our website for directions. The MCSWA does NOT operate, own, or staff the transfer station. It is privately owned. If you have questions about the transfer station, call them at 304-368-7777.
